Pass Fair Share Tax Reform!

This week, the Senate is finalizing its version of the House budget bill.  As of today, the proposal does not include the Fair Share Tax Reform proposal, which could raise an additional $6 billion in revenue by increasing the personal income tax rates for the wealthiest New Yorkers.   By asking high income earners to pitch in their fair share, we can prevent taking much-needed funds from our children’s classrooms.

Call Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith and Governor David Paterson now and demand the Fair Share Tax Reform plan be included in the budget.

Governor David A. Paterson (518) 474-8390
Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith (518) 455-2701

Governor Paterson’s latest proposed budget would slash $2.5 billion in education funding at a time when we should be investing in education to fuel our future prosperity.  The Fair Share Tax Reform plan would bring additional revenue to New York State that could help eliminate the budget deficit and prevent devastating cuts.

Though the federal stimulus package will provide New York with much-needed education funding it won’t be enough all on its own.  Albany has to step up and do it’s part to protect vital services and programs.

Please make your calls now!  Tell Majority Leader Smith not to balance the budget on the backs of New York’s children. New Yorkers earning over $250,000 annually should pay their fair share to keep our schools open. Your involvement can make a real difference.  Governor Paterson and Majority Leader Smith need to hear from New Yorkers like you today.
