Legislative Agenda

Our agenda for the 2008 New York state legislative session is focused on three goals:

• Fully fund last year’s commitment of $1.2 billion in increased education funding with built-in accountability measures under the Contracts for Excellence.
• Reduce SUNY / CUNY tuition costs by providing an increase in tuition assistance programs – and thereby make higher education more accessible.
• Transform ineffective high schools into high-performing small learning communities with a commitment of $30 million to be applied toward the 150 lowest ranking high schools.
